Tourist Information

Trois-Rivières is a city located on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, halfway between Quebec City and Montreal. Founded in 1634, it is the second oldest French-speaking city in North America. With its 139,163 inhabitants as of 2021, it is now the most populated city in the Mauricie region.

Trois-Rivières lives to the rhythm of a port city cradled by the St. Lawrence and St. Maurice rivers. The city showcases its historic district where several museums, art galleries and boutiques explore the memory of the beautiful three-hundred-year-old city.

One of the city’s most popular historical sites is the old Trois-Rivières prison, opened in 1822 and finally decommissioned in 1986.

Welcome Evening

Friday evening on May 5th, we will hold a Welcome Evening at the restaurant La Maison de Débauche par Le Carlito, who has graciously agreed to host us for a private event.

La Maison de Débauche is the ultimate festive place in Trois-Rivières. With its unique offer combining generous cuisine and wine list, incomparable hospitality and exhilirating atmosphere, La Maison offers you a memorable experience that is always of the highest quality. It is also a nod to the somewhat saucy history of downtown Trois-Rivières, which once welcomed guests from here and abroad for evenings rich in pleasures of all kinds.

We are very pleased to have La Maison de Débauche as one of our partners for this conference and we thank them for their hospitality. The capacity of the private dining room is limited, so you will need to reserve your spot through our Registration page. A $5 fee is requested to reserve your spot; each guest will be responsible for their own meal once at the restaurant. A look at the evening’s menu is available here.

Escape Game

Saturday evening on May 6th, from 6pm to 9pm, at the UQTR’s CIPP building, a group of 10 people will have the opportunity to test their investigative skills in a forensic-themed escape game offered by La Loupe (in French only).

La Loupe is a public laboratory that was created within the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics at the UQTR with the aim of offering various scientific workshops to adults, children, education professionals, as well as schools. Its mission is to promote encounters between the university and society and to allow the development of scientific curiosity.

During the activity, you will be immersed in the work of crime scene investigators, laboratory technicians and experts. Participants will collect cards, which will allow them to gather knowledge related to forensic science. At the end of the activity, participants will be able to demystify the CSI effect and understand the stakes of a real investigation.

We are very excited to offer this activity to our delegates and thank La Loupe for hosting us in this way. As the capacity of the activity is limited to 10 people, you will need to reserve your spot. To do so, please send us your name by email at infocuffs@gmail.com. The cost of the activity is $10 per person, to be paid in cash on the day of the event.
